Zoning Commission
The Zoning Commission develops and establishes zoning regulations that determine how land can be utilized within the municipality. These regulations typically include provisions related to land use categories (e.g., residential, commercial, industrial), permitted activities within each category, building setbacks, lot sizes, density requirements, signage regulations, and other development standards. We are thrilled by the experience and talent of our candidates for this commission. Erik, John, and Justin bring a variety of age and professional experience that are representative of Marlborough's demographics, and represent a mix of incumbents and new candidates for a balanced commission.

Erik Stomberg: Erik has been an alternate member on the Zoning Commission for the past 4 years, and is seeking a full seat. During his time on the board, he has worked with fellow members and residents to ensure zoning decisions balance the rights of property owners with the interests of the broader community. He has had a vital role in discussions around refining lakefront regulations and addressing new developments in town. Professionally, he has spent 15 years managing a diverse IT team at a large insurance company. This role has prepared him for work on the board through efficient communication, collaboration with contractors/vendors/internal stake holders, and practical solution-oriented problem solving. He brings operational experience and knowledge from his time on the board and will be vital as a full member.

John Grasso: John has a long history of service and leadership in our community. John is a retired U.S. Army veteran and attorney. He currently serves as a Justice of the Peace and a member of the Marlborough Board of Assessment Appeals. Previously, he served Marlborough as a member of Zoning Commission, Zoning Board of Appeals, RHAM Board of Education, and Conservation Commission. John brings a wealth of knowledge about Marlborough, its history, and the function of various boards and commissions. His experience would bring a strong voice to the Zoning Commission to ensure responsible growth and development in Marlborough, now and for the future.

Justin Bransfield: Justin is a software engineer with a B.A. in mathematics. He moved to Marlborough in 2020 and became motivated to volunteer and serve his community. He believes that our town must respect and preserve Marlborough's character and charm, while recognizing and meeting the challenges that face our town, like aging demographics and ever-rising housing costs. His vision for Marlborough is to be culturally vibrant, commercially thriving, diverse, and affordable. He brings youth, energy, and fresh ideas to the slate.
